Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a more serious digestive problem when the immune system mistakenly attacks tissues in the digestive tract.
Most diseases are brought on by an immune deficiency of some sort. Poor nutrition and the over vaccinations that the veterinarians tell us we have to do because they are good for our pets and it's the law. You need to find out what the law is in your state so your pet is not subjected to over vaccinations.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Dogs and cats are always eating things they shouldn't, which is why vomiting and diarrhea are so common in pets. But when they are getting sick for weeks or months instead of days, they could have a more serious digestive problem called inflammatory bowel disease.
Veterinarians aren't sure what causes inflammatory bowel disease, although they suspect it occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks tissues in the digestive tract. Food allergies or problems with the pancreas may play a role in causing it. Even hairballs, which irritate the intestines, may be involved.
The conventional therapy for inflammatory bowel disease is to give medications to stop the symptoms: steroids to suppress the immune system and sometimes antibiotics to control bacteria in the gut. Holistic veterinarians, on the other hand, believe it is possible to cure inflammatory bowel disease by strengthening the body's organs, especially the digestive and regulatory organs like the pancreas and liver, and by helping the immune system work the way it is supposed to.
The Signs of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Your cat is vomiting a lot
- Your dog or cat has chronic diarrhea
- There is blood in his stools
- Your pet is losing weight, has diarrhea, and is vomiting
Some pets with inflammatory bowel disease are sensitive to ingredients in commercial foods.( Examples Hill's and Science Diet, Purina, Eukanuba, Iams to name a few). Even thought Veterinarians keeps recommending them. Switching to a high-quality food such as Life's Abundance, will often help prevent the diarrhea and vomiting that accompanies inflammatory bowel disease. You have to introduce them slowly, but the benefits are well worth it.
Antibiotics and anti-fungal drugs are widely prescribed, especially for chronic ear and dental diseases, along with long-term treatment with Prednisone, corticosteroids for a variety of all too common skin problems and inflammatory bowel disorders in dogs and cats all of which can often be cured by a simple change in diet.
Constipation In Cats and Dogs
The most common cause of constipation in pets is an incorrect diet. A lack of fiber (and sometimes excessive fiber) can be a problem as well as indigestible bones which can be swallowed and produce a cork-like blockage in the digestive tract.
Other causes of constipation include worm infestation, lack of exercise and hairballs (in cats). Constipation can lead to a build up of toxins, which can cause numerous health problems. Symptoms of bladder infections (such as straining) can also sometimes be mistaken for constipation.
Symptoms of Constipation in Cats and Dogs
- Straining to have a bowel movement with no result
- Abdominal discomfort
- Loss of Appetite
- Going for long periods between bowel movements
- Hard impacted stools
Make sure your pet has access to fresh drinking water at all times. Filtered or bottled water is preferable to chlorinated or fluorinated water. Probiotics are important in balancing the consistency of the stool. Avoid exposure to toxins and chemicals as much as possible including pesticides, herbicides, commercial flea collars, flea powder, and insecticides.

The Importance of a Healthy Immune System is vital for us and our pets.
Several Ways to Boost Your Pet's Immune System
Feeding a high quality and natural diet are several ways to boost your pet's immune system. Supplements that are essential and that supports a healthy immune system.
Switch to Spring Water or good well water. Municipal water supplies often contain chlorine, which can kill helpful bacteria in the intestines. Giving your pet bottled water, which doesn't contain chlorine, will help these bacteria thrive.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) for improving the health of dogs, cats, and YOU the most important supplement to give to Pets and Humans is Omega3. It can increase overall health and energy level, it can help prevent heart disease, cancer, depression and Alzheimer's. Omega3 supplements can help treat rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, and allergies.
Animals with arthritis/degenerative joint disease can similarly benefit from improved nutrition and especially from omega 3 fatty acid supplements with chondriotin, glucosamine and MSM rather than being put on long acting prednisone or Rymidal. Steroid drugs have many serious consequences including increased susceptibility to infection, diabetes, muscular weakness and osteoporosis, Cushing's disease, increased appetite, agitation and aggression.
There are two types of fat, omega-3 and omega-6 - both essential for health. Commercial dog and cat food diets have excessive Omega 6 fatty acids- as they contain the cheaper vegetable oils corn, canola and the like. And the average person has far too many omega-6 fats in their diet while consuming very low levels of omega-3.
Life's Abundance uses chicken fat, which is a high quality fat source rich in Omega-6 fatty acids for outstanding skin and coat condition. It is more digestible than most fats and provides a superior long-term energy source. The chicken fat used in Life's Abundance foods is naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols (a source of natural Vitamin E) to maintain freshness.
Two of the Best sources of Omega 3 are: Ground Flax, and Fish Oil and the 2 key components of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, DHA and EPA are found in their highest concentration in Fish. These two fatty acids are the most important in preventing heart disease, cancer, allergies and arthritis. The brain is also highly dependent on DHA - low DHA levels have been linked to depression, schizophrenia, memory loss, and a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's.
Do you know Flax Seed is great for you and your pets?
Flaxseed is the richest plant source of antioxidant lignans and Omega-3 fatty.
Flax seed also has a very high level of highly-digestible protein and essential amino acids.
In addition, flax seed contains significant amounts of fiber, vitamin E, folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6 and rich in the minerals potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Flax Seed
Do you know, Fish Oil is a great supplement not only will keep (You) healthy but also will help keep your dogs and cats healthy? Fish oil has shown positive benefits in helping pets with disease. Fatty acids are among the most commonly used nutritional supplements used in treating dogs and cats. Omega 3 oils support heart, vision and joint health, provide important nutrients for proper immune function, and nourish the skin and coat. First suggested for use in treating allergies in pets, they are now advocated in cases of kidney disease, elevated cholesterol, and arthritis as well.Fish Oil
Just as the world is filled with disease-causing organisms, the body is filled with defenses to resist them. In fact, no matter what your pet is confronted with, their body is well designed to fight back. Studies have shown, for example, that cats that have suffered serious nerve injuries can recover complete muscle function. When pets take medications (or eat poisons), the liver produces extra enzymes to detoxify them. Even something minor as a pulled muscle is swiftly addressed with an increase in blood flow, which brings additional oxygen and nutrients and carts off wastes. The main reason a pet gets sick, according to holistic veterinarians, is that something is interfering with the body's natural healing powers.
Vaccines are implicated in a whole host of diseases. Auto-immune disease, allergies, arthritis, cancer, chronic gastric-intestinal diseases (vomiting/diarrhea), thyroid disease, epilepsy, behavioral problems, immune system overload just to name a few. Knowing the VACCINE TRUTH.
Giving MULTIPLE VACCINES every year to Adult Dogs and Cats are in my opinion wrong (and many others as well). It's Not Needed and Potentially VERY HARMFUL to your Pet. Vaccines should never be given to a sick animal or one that is having any kind of surgery. It will only make the problem you took them to your Veterinarian for in the first place worst. People need to step up to the plate and Keep on Learning and Questioning. ASK your Vet WHY they advise your PET take a certain medication. ASK about side effects.
Why Your Veterinarian Cannot Afford To Always Tell You The Truth.
ASK about alternatives. Has your Vet every told you about the Risks of Vaccines? Have you every ASKED?
Many veterinarians have failed to inform clients that most core veterinary vaccines protect for seven or more years, and pet owners, unaware that their animals don't need booster vaccinations every year, have unwittingly given their companions useless booster shots that has taking an unnecessary toll on their finances and animals' health. The human equivalent would be physicians vaccinating patients against tetanus once every year, two years, or three years and not disclosing that the vaccines are known to be protective for 10 years or more. We wouldn't let that happen to us. Why do we let that happen to our precious pets?
